How To Turn Medium Stories Into Profitable Earnings!

Learn How To Increase Medium Responses And Make Money!

Medium Non-Members Can Read The Full Story HERE!

There are several ways to increase reader response as a writer on Medium. Write compelling headlines for instance. A strong and attention-grabbing headline can entice readers to click and read the entire article.

But along with a strong attention-grabbing headline or title (H1 Header), you must also focus on the first 2 to 4 lines of text. This forms part of the “decision-making” for your reader.

With search engines and Metadata for instance, when you do not include a Meta description. Then these first 2 to 4 lines of text are often automatically used as the Meta description with Medium and search engines.

But in the case of the Meta description, only limited characters are allowed. That however will be different between search engines and writing websites like Medium for instance.

But there are also a few other areas to focus on if you want your readers to be more engaging and responsive. Below are a few such areas you want to focus on.

Make the article engaging: Use storytelling techniques, interesting anecdotes, and examples to keep readers engaged and interested.

Add visuals: Incorporate images, videos, and infographics to break up long blocks of text and make the content more visually appealing.

Ask questions: Pose questions to your readers and encourage them to share their thoughts and opinions in the comments section.

Use social media: Share your article on social media platforms to increase visibility and encourage discussion.

Respond to comments: Engage with your readers by responding to their comments and answering any questions they may have.

Offer a call-to-action: Encourage readers to act by providing a clear call-to-action, such as subscribing to your newsletter, downloading or giving away a free e-book, or signing up for a free trial.

But with things like free giveaways and affiliate offers, there are 2 basic rules to abide by with Medium. We are however not going to get into all that…again. But I will just mention these two, among other requirements.

With Medium disclosure, I mean you must clearly indicate that Medium has no affiliation, nor do they endorse the free giveaway. Where with the affiliate disclosure, is just to notify your reader of affiliate offers in the Medium story.

Affiliate offers must always be specified, that is basically what it comes down to. The part with the Medium disclosure in the event of free giveaways, as I do in my Medium story footers. That I got from medium support directly.

Below is a demonstrational example of the free stuff giveaway disclosure. But please as I said before, DO NOT copy this text as illustrated and use it as your own Medium story footer area. Keep it real, don’t be just another copy-and-paste “writer”.

When you increase your reader response, then you also get recognized as a professional in your field. But more importantly, you gain your reader’s trust with your solutions. Or you should be anyway.

Audience responses are important for several reasons. But apart from the “importance” factor, it is also rather fun. Well, for me anyway. Especially when people start asking for advice.

This is when you start realizing just how much you have learned through your years of failure. Let me explain, I just gave someone advice on canonical links, and even surprised myself. A topic I haven’t explored for a long time!

This is precisely why I often prefer not “giving away everything”, I leave some up to the reader’s research. Because then, what you learn by “figuring things out” burns into your memory.

Below are a few reasons why I consider responses to be rather valuable, apart from gaining recognition and building trust that is. But I guess it all adds up, right?

Feedback: Audience responses provide feedback on how well a message is being received. By listening to and analyzing the audience’s reactions, the speaker or performer can adjust their message or performance to better meet the needs and expectations of the audience.

Engagement: Audience responses help to engage the audience and make them feel involved in the performance or presentation. When the audience feels included, they are more likely to pay attention and retain the information being presented.

Validation: Audience responses can validate the message or performance by showing that the audience is understanding and appreciating it. This can boost the speaker or performer’s confidence and encourage them to continue delivering their message or performance with enthusiasm.

Interaction: Audience responses create a dialogue between the speaker or performer and the audience. This interaction can help build a rapport between the two, making the experience more enjoyable and memorable for both parties.

Overall, audience responses are important because they help speakers and performers gauge the effectiveness of their message or performance. Engage the audience, validate the message, and create a dialogue between themselves and the audience.

Audience responses on your work “feed the Algorithm”, so to speak too. It means your work gets recognized by search engines, based on audience interest. Therefore your content might receive positioning preference.

As illustrated above, my personal response rate on Medium thus far. With 167 stories published (including this one). But with 2264 responses, just a few days short of 5 months since starting on Medium.

With YouTube, for instance, it is super easy to rank a video page one on YouTube within seconds. But a day or two later your ranking drops from page one to page none! Sounds familiar? Why is that?

Because YouTube gives you a “head start” with a new upload. Then your audience engagement rate will determine whether you maintain the ranking position, or not, also considering the competition!

If you’re a writer looking to step up your earnings, here are some tips that may help. In the end, it all comes down to strategy and the quality of your content, along with maintaining consistent curiosity.

Diversify your writing skills: If you specialize in one type of writing, consider branching out to other types of writing. For example, if you’re a blogger (Medium writer), you could try your hand at copywriting or technical writing.

This will expand your pool of potential clients and increase your earning potential.

Build a strong portfolio: Create a portfolio (About and Description pages) that showcases your writing skills and experience. This will help you reach a more interested audience. Make sure to include your range of expertise. Do try and avoid the words “professional”, “guru”, or “expert”.

Sadly, in my opinion, these words “lost their power” a long time ago. Because everyone is an “expert” these days! Many of whom are all about sales pitches and generating sales.

Network with other writers: Join writing groups, attend writing conferences, and connect with other writers on social media and Medium. Networking can help you find new readers and opportunities and can also help you learn from other writers and improve your craft.

Pitch your work: Pitch your writing to Medium publications (where applicable), websites, and businesses that you would like to write for. Make sure to tailor your pitch to the specific audience you’re targeting.

Develop a strong online presence: Create a professional website, Medium profile, and social media profiles to showcase your writing and connect with potential readers. Make sure your online presence is polished and professional.

Remember that building a successful writing career takes time and effort. By diversifying your skills, networking, and offering additional services, you can increase your earnings as a writer over time.

Placing exclamation on “over time”, the important part s that you keep writing consistently. And in time, the right people will start noticing your work. And when that happens, well, need I say more?

Writing for Medium publications can be a rewarding experience and can help you to reach a wider audience with your ideas and expertise. Here are some steps to get started:

Determine your niche: Identify the Medium publication or publications you want to write for and the topics that they cover. This will help you to tailor your writing to the specific audience you want to reach.

Study the publication: Research the Medium publication’s style, tone, and content to get a better understanding of what they are looking for in their articles. Follow the required steps to apply as a writer.

This will help you to write in a way that is more likely to be accepted by the publication. One of the most common reasons many writers’ stories are not accepted in Medium publications is image captions, provenance, and copyright.

Develop your idea: Once you have a good understanding of the Medium publication, develop an idea for your article that fits within their content and aligns with your expertise. And then write your Medium story.

Write and revise: Before your Medium story is accepted, be sure to complete all or any editing you would like to do. Some Medium publications will unpublish your work when you edit the content. Remember to write in a clear, concise, and engaging style. Revise your work several times to ensure that it is well-written and meets the publication’s requirements.

Submit and wait: Submit your article according to the Medium publication’s guidelines and wait for their response. Be patient and don’t follow up annoyingly if you haven’t heard back after a reasonable amount of time.

Promote your work: If your Medium story is published, promote it through your social media channels and other networks, an option provided by Medium. This can help you to reach a wider audience and build your reputation as an expert in your field. Bringing us back to trust.

Creating curiosity is essential for learning, discovery, and innovation. When people are curious, they are more likely to seek out new information, ask questions, and explore new ideas.

Curiosity motivates people to learn and discover, and it is the driving force behind many scientific, artistic, and cultural achievements. Here are some of the reasons why creating curiosity is so important.

Promotes Learning: When people are curious, they are more likely to engage in activities that promote learning. Curiosity drives people to seek out new information and experiences, and this leads to a greater understanding of the world around us.

Encourages Exploration: Curiosity is the spark that ignites exploration. When people are curious, they are more likely to explore new places, try new things, and experiment with new ideas. This leads to new discoveries and innovations.

Fosters Creativity: Curiosity is closely linked to creativity. When people are curious, they are more likely to come up with new ideas and approaches to problem-solving. This is because curiosity encourages people to think outside the box and explore unconventional solutions.

Improves Critical Thinking: Curiosity is also linked to critical thinking skills. When people are curious, they are more likely to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and evaluate evidence. This helps them to develop strong critical thinking skills that are essential for success in many areas of life.

Enhances Motivation: Curiosity is a powerful motivator. When people are curious about something, they are more likely to be motivated to learn, explore, and discover. This can lead to greater success and achievement in both personal and professional life.

Besides, a curios audience is usually an active audience. Because 500 active followers or subscribers are worth far more than 100K dormant followers or subscribers. It’s not about the volume of followers and subscribers, it’s about how active they are.
