Getting What You Want Out of Life

By Utilizing Your Community

Racing up the steps of the Philadelphia art museum in the dead of winter, huffing and puffing, covered in sweat. Rocky races to the top and holds his hands up high in triumph for all of Philly to see(Cue the rocky theme song).Most people idealize the form of success achieved by going at it alone with nothing but perseverance and caffeine to keep them together. The one man wonder. Achieving all with just a little training from an old guy with a beanie barely hanging onto his head. Rags to riches stories, the kind Americans love. The truth is that Rocky is just a movie and you’re going to have to do more than jog in the freezing cold and get punched in the face by Apollo Creed to succeed.

The people who lift us up when we are broken, when we feel that we are not able to be put back together again. The people who are always there to lend a helping hand. Your community. The friends, loved ones, and coworkers that help you. The only way to fully realize your true capabilities, and actually achieve your goals, is to lean into your community. That is the only way possible. Here is a list of things to keep in mind to help you identify your community and utilize it.

Once you have identified your community. You need to embrace it and fully immerse yourself in that community. Join extra curricular clubs ! Look into local meet up groups and go to all the meet ups! Make friends with the people in the extra curricular groups that you join. Identify the people you know or need to know in order to get into the community that will help you achieve your goals.

Not identifying and utilizing your community, is knowing you need more than one tool to fix and open a door. Then, proceeding to fight and struggle to open it using no tools whatsoever. You might need a screw driver and a wedge and maybe some nails too. So go out, find and identify the community that you need to be a part of in order to fix and open that door. You never know where it might lead you!
