Unnoticed

Can You see me in the light?

Illuminated by the Sunbeams in the sky.

With Confidence sparkling on high.

Can You see me in the night?

With fears turned on and high from fright.

Within the shadows, peeking out.

Swallowed down by societal sights.

Opinions ravishing my flesh.

Insecurities constricting any sign of breath.

Do you see me, when only you decide?

Accepting the slices of my pie.

But never dare to acknowledge my darker side.

Rainbows and butterflies settling safe inside.

Yes!

You would rather in silence I hide.

Keeping my thrashing far from the tide.

Glaring my way.

Stuck in your monetary and greed-filled genocide.

Poisoined by the ideals of those swimming alongside.

Do You see where the problems arise?

Instead, are you with your head held high.

Permeating from your recent prize.

But if I dare showcase sunny eyes, your arms are reached out — hidden despise.

Yet, when I look up — hand exposed.

Beneath the pile you condoned.

You do NOT see me.

So, I ask you one last time.

When you look upon your looking glass.

And you find yourself holding back a gasp.

Do You see me then?

When I am looking back.
